1977 NCAA Divison II Lacrosse Championship Medal – HOBART

Laxmedals.com is pleased to announce the addition of a new lacrosse medal to it’s one-of-a-kind collection of vintage lacrosse medals: The 1977 NCAA Division II Championship Medal awarded to the Hobart Statesmen.

“I was so excited to see this really rare medal come available to add to our collection.” Says Mike Rogers, President of Laxmedals.com. “This medallion was presented to a member of the 1977 Division II Lacrosse National Champions, Hobart. These types of awards are most likely handed down to family members as a family inheritance so to have this medal added to our collection and to share it with the lacrosse community is very special. The 1977 Hobart team was as dominant as any in lacrosse history this medal was presented to a very special collection of lacrosse players. This medal is a beautiful medal very rare”

The 1977 NCAA Divison II Lacrosse Championship Medal. The 1977 Hobart lacrosse team captured the Division II National Championship, making it back-to-back championship seasons for Head Coach Jerry Schmidt and the Statesmen. It was the team’s fourth consecutive trip to the Division II title game. In the championship game on May 22, 1977, Hobart earned a 23-13 victory over Washington College. The Statesmen’s leading scorer, Roy McAdam ’80, established a tournament record with 21 points over four games. The 1977 Hobart team outscored its opponents with an astonishing mark of 351-112.

The response has been really beyond my expectations, we have sold over 5,000 of the new stock All-Star medals in the first 6 months of 2018 alone. Heningburg, a junior from Maplewood, NJ. (Seton Hall Prep H.S.) led the Knights in the upset win over the favored Orangemen with his 6 goals and 2 assists. It is the first win for Rutgers over Syracuse since 2004. The win caps off a strong week for the Knights who defeated 16th ranked Lehigh on the road on Wednesday. Heningburg and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights have the medal of a lacrosse champion!

February 25, 2018. The Laxmedals.com Week 2 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Player of the week is University of Penn Goalie, Reed Junkin. Penn upended #1 Duke 10-9 at at Franklin Field.

Junkin, a sophomore from Wayland, Mass.(Belmont Hill H.S.) held the team on a solid footing in the first half commanding the net while under a constant Duke offensive blitz. Reed is credited with making some spectacular game-changing saves to keep Penn alive until the Penn offense warmed up and took the game lead late in the 4th. Junkin and the Penn defense held the #1 Duke offense scoreless during a 9 minute stretch in the 4th to seal the win. Penn Lacrosse and Reed Junkin have the medal of a lacrosse champion!
