1977 NCAA Divison II Lacrosse Championship Medal – HOBART

Laxmedals.com is pleased to announce the addition of a new lacrosse medal to it’s one-of-a-kind collection of vintage lacrosse medals: The 1977 NCAA Division II Championship Medal awarded to the Hobart Statesmen.

“I was so excited to see this really rare medal come available to add to our collection.” Says Mike Rogers, President of Laxmedals.com. “This medallion was presented to a member of the 1977 Division II Lacrosse National Champions, Hobart. These types of awards are most likely handed down to family members as a family inheritance so to have this medal added to our collection and to share it with the lacrosse community is very special. The 1977 Hobart team was as dominant as any in lacrosse history this medal was presented to a very special collection of lacrosse players. This medal is a beautiful medal very rare”

The 1977 NCAA Divison II Lacrosse Championship Medal. The 1977 Hobart lacrosse team captured the Division II National Championship, making it back-to-back championship seasons for Head Coach Jerry Schmidt and the Statesmen. It was the team’s fourth consecutive trip to the Division II title game. In the championship game on May 22, 1977, Hobart earned a 23-13 victory over Washington College. The Statesmen’s leading scorer, Roy McAdam ’80, established a tournament record with 21 points over four games. The 1977 Hobart team outscored its opponents with an astonishing mark of 351-112.

1915 US Collegiate Lacrosse Northern Champions Medal won by Harvard

This medal was presented to Harvard Junior Samuel Elliott Nash ’16 following their 1915 Northern Division Championship season. Nash was 3rd Attack for the 1915 squad who had a season record of 5-3 with wins against the Mount Washington Athletic Club (3-2), Stevens (13-1), Hobart (8-2), Cornell (4-2) and Yale (8-4). Losses were to Boston Lacrosse Club (9-4), Crescent Lacrosse Club (4-2), and Johns Hopkins (8-1). Nash briefly taught at the Millbrook School in Concord until he enlisted in the U.S. Army and assigned to Company B, 301st Infantry, 76th Division. In May of 1918, Nash was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the 301st Infantry Band. A year later was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and appointed bandleader until his discharge in July 1919. No other information could be found. No maker marks found appears to be gold plate over brass or copper.

Laxmedals.com has presented the US Lacrosse Foundation with a proposal for the 2014 US Lacrosse regional championship series. “Laxmedals.com has always been a supporter of the US Lacrosse events and hopes to continue the partnership in 2014.”  Says Mike Rogers, president of Laxmedals.com. Rogers is hopeful the US Lacrosse event staff will chose its designs among a large pool of competitive submissions. “Everyone would love to be the supplier of award medals to US Lacrosse. They are the governing body of the sport of lacrosse and the exposure of our products to the lacrosse community through US Lacrosse is unmatched. I honestly do not think anyone could beat our medal designs for 2014 they will be tight and of course we take extraordinary measures to ensure our products are provided to US Lacrosse at the best value. 2013 NAMLA Turkey Shoot Lacrosse Medal

Laxmedals.com is proud to once again partner up with The North American Minor League Lacrosse Association (NAMLA) to create a special Thanksgiving themed medal for their annual Turkey Shoot Lacrosse Tournament. NAMLA was established in 2004 and is comprised of lacrosse organizations that represent the Iroquois Native American communities of Allegany, Newtown, Tuscarora, Tonawanda, and Onondaga, whose participants are predominantly Haudenosaunee, but not exclusively as youth from all backgrounds are invited and do participate. “To be a part of the Iroquois lacrosse community is something beyond words can describe.” Says Laxmedals.com president Mike Rogers. “Having played the game myself and to now try to capture the spirit of the game of lacrosse in my medals…I think being associated with the people who created the game in any way is an honor. It is their game. I am humbled to be a part of it.”
